Stephen Thomas is an engineer, policy analyst and campaigner with more than a decade of experience working on climate solutions in the public, private and non-profit sectors in Canada. He works to support organizations with bold campaigns and policy interventions for key energy and climate issues across Canada.
Stephen has been working on the climate team at the David Suzuki Foundation since 2020. From 2016 to 2020, he was the Energy Campaign Coordinator with the Ecology Action Centre – Atlantic Canada’s largest environmental organization. There, he led campaigns to strengthen climate policy, phase out coal-fired electricity, and leave no one behind in the just transition to a carbon-free future.
Stephen has worked directly in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors. His past work supported a development portfolio of over 200MW of community-led and community-owned renewable energy projects across North America.
Stephen is a settler and lives as a guest on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh, and Squamish Nations.
